Making History – Thousands March at Pro Choice Rally

Today thousands of ordinary Irish people who support a woman’s right to choose will march in Dublin City Centre at 2pm. The March for Choice is the first of its kind since the X case where people have taken to the streets to highlight pro choice support for abortion.

A strong Cork contingent will attend the march with Cork Feminista, Pro Choice Alliance Cork and Cork Women’s Right to Choose all being represented. The March has been organised to coincide with the International Day for the Decriminalisation for Abortion.

Speaking ahead of the March, Founder of Cork Feminista, Linda Kelly had this to say: “Today is a historic event for Ireland on the abortion issue. A new generation are taking to the streets to voice their opposition to the archaic laws governing abortion in Ireland. We are calling for change and we are calling for it in the lifetime of this government. We will not wait for our rights any longer”
