Firstly, thank you for attending the Action on X public meeting in the Gresham Hotel on February 21st. Videos of each of the speakers can be viewed here.
It has been a busy month for Action on X preparing for the upcoming Dáil debate on the X case legislation put forward by Clare Daly – the Medical Treatment (Termination of Pregnancy in Case of Risk to Life of Pregnant Woman) Bill 2012 can be read at this link.
We have a few upcoming actions we’d like to invite you to take part in:
1. Write to your TDs – in advance of the Dáil debate it is crucial that TDs know their constituents support legislation for X. Click here for tips on letter-writing including sample letters, a background note on Clare Daly’s Bill and contact details for public representatives.
2. Join us outside the Dail – Action on X will hold a short rally in support of the legislation at 6pm on Wednesday, April 18th. The rally will be addressed by some of the TDs who worked to produce the Bill. Click here to join the Facebook event. It would be really helpful to have as many people there as possible to show that this is not a marginal issue and that the majority of Irish people are in support of the right to abortion in these circumstances as well as broader ones. It will make all the difference if you can stop by for some or all of the rally – it’s the easiest way to show that there is real support out there.
3. Sit in the gallery for the debate – email us at email@example.com if you would like to join us in the Dail gallery to listen to the debate on the X legislation. The debate is due to begin at 7pm and will finish up for the evening at 8.30pm before being voted on on Thursday morning. There are a limited number of places available so email as soon as possible to secure your seat.
