St Bridget

While I’m not religious, I am always giving out about the lack of women in public life, and religion should be no exception. So today take some time to learn about St Bridget who is considered as much the patron saint of Ireland as St Patrick – yet she has no bank holiday after her! Her feast day also marks the first day of spring!

Out and about town you’ll also spot  people selling St Bridgets cross so if you fancy marking the day, why not buy one?

As always Wikipedia provides some useful information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigid_of_Kildare
